Conscious Conscience: Cross Cultural Art
The mixed media sculpture below synthesize elements of a cross-cultural experience I had living and traveling in Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa from 1984-87. I found examining the influence and impact of western culture thought provoking. So, I borrowed from indigenous art form, used a blend of natural and synthetic material and included American artifact in creating my re-interpretation. The resulting juxtapositions acknowledges a heightened sensibility I describe as Conscious Conscience.
