Reflective Vision
With the sample of images below, you can experience a portion of a larger body of work I’ve pursued for more than 20 years. I call this series Reflective Vision. I’m seeking sponsorship that will give these artworks greater exposure and engagement with audiences. If you would like to learn more about the project, or consider supporting its realization, please email me.
Artist Statement
I create photographs that feature my reflection or shadow in a multitude of scenarios. I make aesthetic use of transparency, superimposition, and abstraction. I seek out art and imaging situations to present a romantic and celebratory vision of seeing.
For 21st century image-making these notions might seem quaint and nostalgic. Here I am, the stereotypical lone photographer, out looking for a picture of visual significance. By contrast, I remake the paradigm by placing myself into every composition. This inclusion is a performance — a scene created for the express purpose of being photographed. I delight in the theatrical variations and interpretations that present themselves in these ephemeral tableaux.
This discerning engagement is a fascinating way to observe the world. I consider the mundane of my backyard — the spectacular in faraway places. I interact with works of other artists to embrace creative inquiry and collaborative practice. I render these fleeting moments to arouse, to amuse and to inspire seeing.
Reflective Vision is my layered and visually evocative tribute to photography discovered within our ever-evolving imaging landscape.
Project Description
Reflective Vision comprises more than 100 original fine art prints ranging in size from 20x30” to 40x60” for single images and larger for multi-image works. These artworks are digitally captured, manipulated and enhanced prior to rendering using archival pigment inks and the finest papers on industry-leading inkjet printers.
More than 20 years in the making, Reflective Vision is a project imagined as an exhibition of fine art prints with a fully illustrated book/catalog and the potential for multi-venue travel.
